Humble, Texas Airports

The Houston airport system is the fourth largest airport system in the United States and the sixth largest in the world, according to the Airports Council International. George Bush Intercontinental Airport/ Houston on the north side, and William P. Hobby Airport on the south side, and Ellington Field near Johnson Space Center comprise on of the most accessible airport sin the world.

 

George Bush Intercontinental Airport

The George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is located 22 miles north of downtown Houston and is the 15th busiest airport in the nation for total passengers. The airport has four terminals, 19000 parking spaces in around the airport and serves more than 28 million passengers annually.

William P. Hobby Airport

William P. Hobby Airport is just 15 minutes south of downtown and serves more than 8 million passengers annually. With it’s four runways, Hobby Airport is the 43rd busiest airport in the United States for total passengers.

Ellington Field

Ellington Field (EFD) is a joint use civil/military airport. Acquired by the City of Houston in 1984, Ellington now supports the operations of the United States military, NASA, Continental Express, United Parcel Service and general aviation. The airport is home to the largest flying club in Texas and is the site of the annual Wings Over Houston Airshow.

Ellington Field is located approximately 15 miles south of downtown Houston, near I-45/Gulf Freeway, the major highway heading from the City to NASA and Galveston Island.

The airport is operated and maintained by the Houston Airport System. The Houston Airport System functions as an enterprise fund of the City of Houston and does not burden the local tax base for airport operations, maintenance or capital improvements.

General Aviation

Houston offers excellent general aviation facilities for corporate aircraft. In addition to IAH, Hobby and Ellington Field, the Houston CMSA has seven reliever airports to serve corporate aviation. These fields include Brazoria County, Clover Field, D.W. Hooks, La Porte Municipal, Montgomery County, Sugar Land Municipal and West Houston- Lakeside. Ten additional public use general aviation airports and more than 60 private helipads are located in the metropolitan area.
